I will be singing along with Cheryl Bentyne, Mark Winkler, Antonia Bennett, Cathy Segal-Garcia and many others to support vocalist Gary Brumburg's fundraiser "Jazz Versus Cancer" for the organization "We Spark Cancer Support Center". Starting with a social hour at 11:00 on the patio, we'll be featuring an award winning young musicians' group, with a special guest appearance by the vocal improvisation group, FISH to Birds. There will be an open auction with various products and services offered. At 12:00 we'll move in to the club for a wonderful few hours of very special jazz performances by some of L.A.'s favorites, including Cheryl Bentyne of the Manhattan Transfer. Actress Nancy Allen who is now the ED of We Spark, will speak about the organization, which has been in business for 18 years, and has helped, for free, hundreds of people affected by cancer over the years. The performers will include those who are "cancer survivors", and of course and unfortunately there isn't anyone who hasn't been touched by this disease in some way.
