Kiki - I do not recall the year, but the occasion was that your father had challenged the winner of the America's Cup in yachting to a race out in the Pacific between Long Beach and and couple other points out in the blue sea. I covered the event on the press boat for The Newporter newspaper as the editor of that local newspaper. You may recall it. But prior to the race, I had written an article about the "challenge" and informed readers that Buddy Ebsen, skilled actor that he was, was also an accomplished yachtsman. During the trial run before the race, out on a pier, I handed your father a copy of The Newporter to him with my article about the upcoming race, and he told me he had already read the article and that he thought the piece was, "better written and more accurate than the report published in the Los Angeles Times." I have never forgotten that moment and how much it meant to this young newspaper editor. Keep up your great work. Such an inspiration. John Robbins john4252@gmail.com Houston, Texas
